Abel Ghekiere (born 1996) is a Belgian musician, currently based in Antwerp. His unique sound comes from the fusion of modern jazz, traditional folk and field recordings. Through classical arrangements and a cinematic approach to composition, Ghekiere tells a story of grief and the search for solace.
‘Love Supreme’ is the first single from the upcoming album before it disappears, and after.
On both clarinet, guitar, piano and cello, he searches for resonance through an intuitive and sometimes stripped-down process of musical expression. The memories of his father, visual artist Joris Ghekiere (1955 – 2016), form the basis of the entire album but are expressed almost literally in this first introduction to Ghekiere’s music.
The Belgian artist’s works are a great inspiration for both the music and the accompanying video, created by cinematographer Camille Ghekiere.
‘Love Supreme’ comes out January 29 on on all platforms, released by RotKat records.
